Kittiwake — Calgary Bay

The Property

The Hut

A labour of love, hand-built with local wood and a boat for a roof.

Built by hand, from the land

Kittiwake was sustainably built using locally sourced wood, with a boat repurposed as part of the roof — a distinctive architectural touch that connects the hut to the maritime heritage of the Hebrides.

Set in mature woodland within the Calgary Art in Nature sculpture walk, the hut sits on a small hill surrounded by art installations and ancient trees, with outstanding views over Calgary Bay. It's a place to disconnect, slow down, and wake to birdsong instead of alarms.

This is genuinely off-grid living: solar lights and candles for the evening, a wood-burning stove for warmth, and a camping stove for cooking. No electricity, no mobile signal, no distractions.
